Man in Police Custody after Bourne Crash

CRAZYGUYBOURNE- A man crashed his truck into a utility pole on Sandwich Road yesterday and then took flight.

After a police chase through the woods, Dennis Mahoney, 55, of Kingston was finally captured and charged with operating under the influence, among other charges.

Bourne and Massachusetts State Police responded to the report of the truck accident in the area of the Gallo Ice Arena on Sandwich Road yesterday.

Mahoney took off into the woods, according to police, and became combative and resisted attempts to place him in custody.

Mahoney was transferred into State Police custody who will be handling the arrest.

Mahoney was charged with Operating Under the Influence, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage, Operating with a Suspended License, and Resisting Arrest.

The accident caused the closure of Sandwich Road in the area of Gallo Ice Arena for a few hours while NStar crews repaired the utility pole.
