Senatori Appointed Permanent Executive Director of Cape Cod Commission

BARNSTABLE – Contract negotiations are set to take place for the newly approved executive director of the Cape Cod Commission.

Acting Executive Director Kristy Senatori has been unanimously approved by the Barnstable County Commissioners to take hold of the permanent role.

“I am honored and privileged to be the next leader of the Cape Cod Commission. I look forward to continuing the innovative work of the Commission and collaborating with Cape community leaders and stakeholders as we design solutions to some of the region’s biggest environmental and economic challenges,” Senatori said.

Senatori was appointed Acting Director in February following the resignation of former Executive Director Paul Niedzwiecki, a position he held for 10 years. Niedzwiecki is now the first Executive Director and General Counsel for the Southfield Redevelopment Authority in Weymouth.

“The short of it is that we can accept the recommendation of the Executive Committee and we can begin the contract negotiations with Kristy Senatori to fill the full-time position of Executive Director and reschedule executive session so that we, the full board, will have input in those contract negotiations,” explained Barnstable County Commissioner Leo Cakounes.

Cakounes will be joined by fellow Regional Commissioners Ron Beaty and Mary Pat Flynn to lead contract negotiations with Senatori. Flynn expressed satisfaction with Senatori’s decision to accept the role.

“She’s been with the Commission for some time, she’s been very involved in the community for all these years, she certainly understands not only the breath and scope of the Commission and its responsibilities, but also what the needs of the communities are,” Flynn said.

Senatori graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Vermont Law School and worked in the private sector for several years before joining the Cape Cod Commission. She began working for the Commission back in 2008, overseeing the regulatory program as the Chief Regulatory Officer.

In 2012, Senatori was promoted to Deputy Director, the position she would hold before becoming Active Executive Director this year.

Cape Cod Commission Executive Committee Chairman Harold Mitchell says, “There is no question Ms. Senatori is best suited to lead the Commission well into the future.”
