BARNSTABLE- The person at the center of the JFK crash investigation will be speaking on Cape Cod this month.
Captain W. Russell Webster, a 26 year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, will present the tragic story of the search and rescue mission, turned recovery of the 1999 JFK JR. crash during the Tales of Cape Cod ‘Bringing History To Life’ event on May 14th.
“We are fascinated by his telling of this. It is indeed tragic, but it is an integral part of our history,” said Ann Canedy, Tales of Cape Cod board member.
The event will be $5 for members, and $10 for non-members and will take place at the National and State Register for Historic Places Olde Colonial Courthouse located at 3046 Main Street in Barnstable Village at 7 p.m.
“Captain Webster was the leading national authority in Homeland Security following 42 years of service in the Coast Guard, Transportation Safety Administration, and [the] Federal Emergency Management Agency, so he has had a very colorful interesting life. He retired [back] in 2015,” said Canedy.
In addition, Webster also served as the Incident Commander for the Egypt Air 990 accident, as well as coordinating regional operations for 9/11.
