Leaking Acetylene Torch Shuts Down Centerville Intersection

CENTERVILLE – A major intersection in Centerville was briefly closed Monday afternoon as emergency crews responded to a van with a leaking acetylene torch inside.

The driver of the van was at the intersection of Route 28 and Phinney’s Lane when he realized the torch was leaking.

He pulled over to fix the problem, but the driver’s door closed behind him – locking him out of the van.

The fire department knocked out the rear window of the van to let the gas escape.

There were no reported injuries.
