Underwater Sounds Focus of Center for Coastal Studies Lecture

PROVINCETOWN – Marine Ecologist Leila Hatch, Ph.D. will be the guest speaker at the Center for Coastal Studies’ Celebration of Women in Science and Chase-Miller Policy Forum Lecture on Friday, October 25.

Hatch, a NOAA employee and graduate of Yale and Cornell, will be presenting “Can you hear me here? Understanding and protecting underwater soundscape in U.S. National Marine Sanctuaries.”

Hatch’s work was featured in the documentary “Sonic Sea.”

Following the lecture, the winner of the Ruth Hiebert Memorial Fellowship will be announced. The award is given to women who are pursuing degrees and careers in the marine science field.
