BOSTON (AP) — Libertarian vice presidential nominee William Weld is planning to file petitions in Massachusetts to guarantee that he and Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson have their names on the ballot in Weld’s home state.
The former Republican governor is planning to drop off the petitions at Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin’s office on Monday.
Weld also plans to speak with reporters.
Weld and Johnson, the former governor of New Mexico, are hoping to make some headway with voters this year given the dissatisfaction many are feeling with both Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton.
The Libertarian ticket is also competing for the hearts of disaffected voters with Green Party presidential hopeful Jill Stein, a Lexington resident.
