High tide at Millway Beach in Barnstable Village Sunday
HYANNIS – It was a day of digging out yesterday across Cape Cod and the Islands following the region’s first blast of winter.
By the time the clouds cleared and the sun came out Sunday afternoon, there were some impressive snow totals around the area.
Falmouth and West Harwich hit the jackpot with just over 15 inches. Fourteen inches were recorded in Hyannis and Dennis Port, while 13 inches covered the ground in Yarmouth, Mashpee and Woods Hole.
Ten inches was a common number in Bourne, Centerville and South Yarmouth.
Air service resumed late Sunday morning at the Barnstable Municipal Airport and the Hy-Line was able to run ferry service by early Sunday evening.
Air travel and ferry service was expected to return to normal Monday morning between the Cape and Islands.
There were no reports of major damage or significant erosion associated with the storm. However, the ocean did breach again at Balston Beach in Truro.
As of early Monday morning, there were no reported power outages on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.
