Lifeguard Training Course to Begin Soon in Barnstable

WEST BARNSTABLE – The Barnstable Recreation Division and Cape Cod YMCA will offer a Waterfront and Lifeguard Training Course on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30 beginning March 28th.

The program is designed to certify those aged 15 to 18 as lifeguards. Participants must be able to pass a Level 6 swim test on the first day. Transportation is available from Barnstable High School to the YMCA.

Another program which will focus on conditioning swimmers and improving their skills enough to qualify for the aforementioned course will take place during the same time frame.

The cost for the lifeguard program will be $180 for Barnstable residents, while the latter program will cost $60.

In-person registration may be conducted at the Barnstable Recreation Department. Online registration via the town’s website is also available.
