OSTERVILLE – The New England Society for Abandoned Animals has received a boost to its spay and neuter program.
The nonprofit organization has received a $5,000 grant from the Cape Cod Foundation through the Thomas C. McGowan Fund for Animals.
The society works to protect and rescue abandoned and abused animals using a proactive, humane approach.
The funding will also be used to support basic medical needs for the animals treated at the society’s Centerville no-kill shelter.
“This grant helps NESAA’s efforts in preventing cat overpopulation,” said Deborah Doe, the society’s founder and president. “All animals rescued by NESAA are spayed or neutered before being considered for adoption or released.”
The Cape Cod Foundation works to build permanent charitable resources for community betterment through informed grant making and civic leadership.
The foundation has distributed more than $55 million in grants and scholarships since its founding in 1989.
