HYANNIS – A painting entitled “He Played Until the Sun Went Down” by Cape artist Jo Ann Ritter has been announced as the official painting of the 26th Annual Cape Cod Five Pops in the Park concert, slated for August 22 in Orleans.

Ritter is described as a traditional “plein-air” painter whose style is colorful and impressionistic, according to the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod.

Her work, featuring a man playing saxophone atop a ship dock piling, will be featured in the concert’s program book, and will ultimately be auctioned off later this summer with proceeds benefit the Arts Foundation.

Ritter has studied under nationally-known painters such as Skip Whitcomb, Clement Micarelli and others.
