SOUTH YARMOUTH – As the approaching Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start to the summer, a collection of Mid-Cape businesses and organizations gathered at the Red Jacket Beach Resort in Yarmouth on Wednesday for the 2019 Mid-Cape Tourism Summit.

The free event, presented by the Steamship Authority, is intended to educate attendees about tourism in the Mid-Cape.

“We’re having our Third Annual Mid-Cape Tourism Summit at the Red Jacket Beach Resort. We do this in partnership with the Steamship Authority, the Red Jacket Beach Resort, the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce and the Dennis Chamber of Commerce,” said Jennifer Werner, Director of Marketing, Communications and Events at the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce.

Werner says the goal of the event is to “educate people about what’s going on in the Mid-Cape.”

“Different attractions and museums, things like that. Earlier today we had an exhibitor marketplace with over 20 exhibitors from the Mid-Cape and then we did a workshop on dealing with difficult consumers from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Then, we wrapped up the event at around 4:30 p.m. and we are doing this beautiful cocktail reception,” Werner explained.

Attendees explored a marketplace with area attractions and participated in the Dealing with the Difficult Consumer workshop.

“We’ve seen a lot of people who already own businesses. A lot of hotel staff, some people with restaurants. We also have seen people who have bed and breakfasts, real estate, so all established businesses.”

The summit finished off with a networking cocktail reception under an outdoor tent featuring live entertainment by the McMurphy’s and a photo booth provided by Cape Capture Photo Booth.

Additional partners for the summit include the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce, Dennis Chamber of Commerce, and the Red Jacket Beach Resort. The event was funded in part by the Town of Yarmouth’s Tourism Revenue Preservation Fund.
