Local Legacy Kept Alive Through ‘Mini Love Walk’ Benefiting People In Need

HARWICH – Two local organizations have partnered up to try and revive the work left behind by the ‘Bob Murray Housing with Love Walk’ benefiting the homeless, and others here on Cape Cod.

The new ‘Mini Love Walk’ which will now be run by the Harwich Ecumenical Council for Housing, and the Chatham Ecumenical Council, will continue to raise money to help support the local community.

“This is one of our primary fundraisers of the year. One of the other reasons we do it in the summer is to hopefully raise awareness amongst our non-resident homeowners, and visitors. A lot of people have this vision of the Cape as a well-off area, which as we know is not the case for a lot of folks,” said George Swope, HECH Executive Director.

Even though this walk is taking place, the organization is stressing that funding needed to help these assistance programs continue to run is always necessary.

“This benefits not only HECH and our rental units, and the different housing programs that we administer, but it also helps support our high-quality, but very affordable pre-school program, among many others,” said Swope.

The walk will kick off on July 12th at 8:30 a.m., beginning at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church parking lot, spanning to the First Congregational Church in Harwich Center.
