Final Public Meeting Monday on Barnstable Wastewater Plan

BARNSTABLE – The final public information session for planning, questions, and comments on Barnstable’s Draft Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan (CWMP) will be held Monday night.

The meeting will focus on gathering data and answering questions about the 208 Plan, an outline to meet the requirements of the Federal Clean Water Act for the region.

The CWMP is a larger plan to manage wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal efforts in Barnstable over the next 30 years, with the goal of protecting coastal estuaries and fresh water ponds alongside public water supplies.

The plan will also coordinate with neighboring Mashpee, Sandwich, and Yarmouth.

It also has the secondary goal of supporting economic growth and bringing treatment to difficult problem spots — for example those with high groundwater and poor soils.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 pm in the Liberty Hall Club on 2150 Main St. Marstons Mills.

A pdf copy of the draft plan can be found at the Town of Barnstable’s website at this address.
