Local Organization Assisting Residents with Affordable Care Act

ER medical symbolBARNSTABLE – One local organization is helping residents navigate the Affordable Care Act ahead of the upcoming open enrollment season.

The Community Action Committee of the Cape and Islands has been tasked by the state once again this year to assist residents with the process.

“We help them with enrollment, with screening, with consumer education, and we’re really preparing for the open enrollment season which begins November 15, but we can help anyone, anytime, regardless of their income,” said Stephanie Coxe, the Executive Director of the Community Action Committee.

Coxe advises residents to not go it alone when it comes to researching and signing up for plans, “it’s incredibly confusing to the most sophisticated of consumers, and we are here, in particular, to help people understand and navigate the Affordable Care Act.”

Coxe added that the Community Action Committee can assist residents with dental insurance in addition to health insurance.

The organization is holding outreach events over the course of the next two months.
