Local Realtors Report Increase Volume, Value of March Home Sales

WEST YARMOUTH – According to preliminary data the Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS reports an increase in sales volume and value last month.

Home and condominium sales increased by more than 9 percent in Barnstable County from last March from 325 to 355.

The median sales price of single-family homes in March was $421,500 which was over 2 percent more than last year. The median price for condominiums fell nearly 5 percent to $261,500.

Sales pending at the end of the month for single-family homes and condos were up 8.6 percent from last year.

“The all-around increase in market activity this March is impressive,” said CCIAOR President Joe Arnao.

“With all the market indicators trending up, we are looking at a healthy spring market. The main issue facing this market continues to be housing affordability pricing out the move-up buyers and sellers looking to downsize, causing them to hold on to property that no longer fits their needs.”

New listings increased by more than 21 percent from the previous March.
