BOSTON (AP) — The clock is ticking toward the tax deadline but Massachusetts residents have more days than most of the country to get those returns in.

The federal tax filing date was pushed back to Monday this year, as April 15 was Emancipation Day in Washington, D.C.

But because Monday is Patriots’ Day, a holiday in Massachusetts, the deadline for filing both state and federal tax returns in the Bay State is Tuesday.

The Massachusetts Department of Revenue says about 93 percent of all state tax returns sent in so far were filed electronically.

Acting DOR Commissioner says taxpayers can use the agency’s website for last-minute help with filing or to check the status of a refund.
