SOUTH DENNIS- Lowe’s Home Centers has withdrew their appeal of the Cape Cod Commission’s decision to reject plans for a location in South Dennis.
But company officials, in a prepared statement, left open the possibility of another try.
Lowe’s spokesperson Natalie Turner said, “We’re confident that we brought forth a strong proposal for a new store that would have created hundreds of jobs, would have expanded the tax base in the area and improved infrastructure such as roads and water service.
“We’ve decided to withdraw our proposal for a Lowe’s store in South Dennis. We’re thankful for the strong support we did receive from local residents, officials and community leaders throughout the process.
“While opening a Lowe’s in Dennis isn’t a possibility at this time, we do leave open the possibility of bringing a Lowe’s to our customers on Cape Cod,” she said.
According to court documents, Lowe’s withdrew their appeal on June 10, after filing their appeal on February 12.
The Cape Cod Commission voted 8-6 to reject plans to develop a store in South Dennis in January.
The land off Route 134 that was planned to be developed into a Lowe’s store is currently housing Dick and Ellie’s Flea Market.
