Adrian Loya is led to a prisoner transport van after his conviction on first degree murder in Barnstable Superior Court
BARNSTABLE – Adrian Loya, the man convicted of killing Coast Guard Petty Officer Lisa Trubnikova in Bourne, is appealing his conviction.
A Barnstable Superior Court jury found Loya guilty of first-degree murder in 2017 in the shooting death of Lisa Trubnikova in 2015.
He was also found guilty of aggravated assault and battery, armed home invasion and assault and battery on a police officer.
Two other people were shot and survived.
An appeal filed in Barnstable Superior Court claims there was an error in the wording of the verdict slips for jurors.
The murder conviction required an automatic sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Bourne Police Officer Jared MacDonald was shot in the back while responding and since recovered. Trubnikova’s wife, Anna, was also shot and survived.
Loya forced his way into a Bourne condominium in February 2015, killing Lisa Trubnikova, and injuring her wife, Anna.
