Lt. Governor Polito Signs Community Compact Agreements with Five Cape & Islands Towns

HARWICH – Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito spent Tuesday traveling to five towns on the Cape and Islands to sign community compact agreements.

She traveled to West Tisbury, Aquinnah, Mashpee, Harwich and Dennis.

State Representatives Dylan Fernandes, David Vieira, Tim Whelan and Sarah Peake traveled alongside Polito to take part in the signings.

“It’s truly a shared commitment, truly building out stronger communities and helping our administration do what we said we would do when elected to office, was making Massachusetts great from one end of the state to the other,” said Polito.

So far, about 293 cities and towns in the Commonwealth has signed a community compact with the state, with some coming back and signing a second compact.

“This is definitely a high priority of our administration and I’m working hard to get all 351 communities into the program,” said Polito.

The IT Grant program has allowed the state to provide a total of $4 million impacting more than 130 municipalities.

The Efficiency & Regionalization Grant program has resulted in $2 million of grants being awarded for projects impacting more than 120 communities and school districts.
