FALMOUTH – The latest pre-trial hearing for Malik Koval, 21 of East Falmouth, the accused shooter of two Falmouth police officers, took place on Wednesday.
No substantive action was taken and the case was continued until October 23 for another hearing.
Koval has been held without bail since his arrest in July.
He’s charged with two counts each of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon as well as one count each of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
The charges stem from events on July 27 where police allege that when they responded to a disturbance on Ashley Drive in Falmouth, Koval refused commands.
While two officers were tied up with two relatives of Koval, who have also been charged in the case, Koval allegedly ran into the residence, grabbed a gun, then shot at the police, hitting both officers. They are expected to make a full recovery.
Koval was himself shot several times by police, he was arraigned from his Boston hospital bed July 31st.
His next hearing is scheduled for October 23.
