Man Reconnects With Lost Class Ring

Bourne Bridge and BoatBARNSTABLE- A Marshfield man will be re-united with his 1965 class ring from Cape Cod Community College (CCCC) tomorrow, nearly 50 years after losing it in Kentucky.

On July 1, Cape Cod Community College received an email from a man in Texas who had in his possession a class ring from CCCC for 1965.

It had the initials EJP inscribed inside the ring and he wanted to see if we could connect the ring with its owner.

CCCC’s Educational Foundation Director Kathy McNamara looked up the initials and class year in their donor database, but it came up with no match.

She asked the registrar’s office to check in the College digital record system, and it matched with Edwin J. Payton.

The college didn’t have the  current contact information for Payton, but after some research, he was found.

Payton is a realtor in Marshfield and nearly 50 years ago, he lost his ring in Kentucky when he was a student there.

He says he hasn’t seen the ring since, but is proud of his time at the College and is happy to reconnect.

Payton and his wife will attend a celebration at the College’s campus at 11 a.m. where the ring will be returned to him.
