NANTUCKET – The Maria Mitchell Association will be hosting its Nantucket Red-Tie Soirée in July featuring an out of this world guest.
Astronaut Daniel Burbank will be on hand to speak with guests about NASA and his experiences living and working on the International Space Station.
Burbank will be joined by MMA interns who are participating in the National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Undergraduates.
The event will also include telescopes on hand for guests to observe the stars.
The fundraising soirée is Sunday July, 10 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Sankaty Head Golf Club.
Tickets are $250 and can be purchased at mariamitchell.org.
