Marine Educators Art Contest is Now Underway

HYANNIS – The annual Massachusetts Marine Educators marine art contest is now underway with a quickly approaching deadline of April 27.

The theme of this year’s contest is “Exploring the Biological Diversity of Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary”.

Students in grades K-12 are invited to submit entries in one of five categories Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Computer Graphics and Photography, and Scientific Illustration.

Students must draw one or more species found in New England’s only national marine sanctuary including invertebrates, fish, plankton, sea birds, turtles, whales, seals or sharks.

Winning artists will receive prizes including money, passes to museums and aquariums, and certificates.

Entries should be delivered to the sanctuary headquarters at 175 Edward Foster Road, Scituate.

Educators and interested artists can learn more about the contest by visiting stellwagen.noaa.gov.
