BOURNE – The National Marine Life Center in Bourne is almost at capacity in their stranded seal pools, the facility can care for up to four animals and there are currently three there.
Kate Schaffer of the Center said the closure of a major care facility in Maine is straining the remaining centers, the University of New England used to house up to thirty of the animals.
Stranded pups are now very carefully evaluated before they are given valuable space.
The Marine Life Center is hosting a seminar on the situation Monday, June 23rd at their facility in Bourne.
