Martha’s Vineyard Misses Out on State Funding for High School Renovations

MARTHA’S VINEYARD – State funding for renovations to Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School will not be available this year.

The Massachusetts School Building Authority selected 15 projects across the Bay State to be reimbursed for up to 40 percent of the building costs. Martha’s Vineyard was not one of the projects chosen.

Island school officials have been trying to secure state funding for renovations for the last three years, according to the Martha’s Vineyard Times.

With the larger renovation of the school building now on hold again, the Martha’s Vineyard School Committee will likely look into renovating the track and field complex. Plans call for using $284,000 in Community Preservation money for the project.
