Mary Pat Flynn Recognized for Public Service to Cape Cod

Mary Pat Flynn

BARNSTABLE – A longtime figure in the Cape Cod politics has been honored for her leadership and dedication to the community.

The Mercy Otis Warren Cape Cod Woman of the Year Committee has recognized Barnstable County Commissioner Mary Pat Flynn with a special award of distinction.

The group said Flynn’s civic engagement and work on local matters is reminiscent of Mercy Otis Warren, who was born in West Barnstable and was a prominent activist during the Revolutionary War.

Flynn served as a Falmouth selectwoman for more than two decades and has been a Barnstable County Commission for the last 10 years.

The citation highlighted Flynn’s commitment to the Mercy Otis Warren committee, a group that honors a Cape Cod woman who exemplifies the virtues of community service, leadership, volunteerism, and patriotism each year.

Nominations will soon be available for this year’s Cape Cod Woman of the Year award recipient, and can be made online or by filling out papers at any library on Cape Cod. The honoree will be recognized in June.
