Mashpee Town Meeting to Debate Ban on Plastic Bags

MASHPEE – Mashpee could join other Cape Cod towns Monday night in banning single-use plastic bags in local retailers.

An article on the Town Meeting warrant would require the use of paper or reusable bags only.

Supporters of the article say plastic bags are bag for the environment and wildlife.

Many other local towns, including Harwich, Wellfleet, Nantucket, Chatham, Falmouth, Barnstable have plastic bag bans.

Mashpee residents will also decide on a new noise bylaw, among 31 total articles.

Town Meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Mashpee High/Middle School.
