Mashpee Wampanoag Recall Election Cancelled

MASHPEE – The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s Recall Hearing and Election scheduled for today has been canceled.

Tribal Council Chairman Cedric Cromwell and Treasurer Gordon Harris were to be questioned about the way tribal finances have been handled.

The tribe’s election committee canceled the recall election as the Wampanoag Supreme Court declined to offer an advisory opinion requested by the tribal council.

The court did say in a filing that it found the recall petitions insufficient.
