Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Schedules Rally in Washington D.C.

MASHPEE – The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is holding a walk and rally in Washington D.C. next week to raise awareness of its ongoing battle with the Interior Department.

The Mashpee Wampanoag Land Sovereignty Walk and Rally is on Wednesday, November 14. It will begin at the National Museum of the American Indian, located inside the National Mall, at 10:00 a.m. and finish at Capitol Hill.

The walk is expected to last about ten minutes.

The tribe is trying to restore its land into trust in Mashpee and Taunton.

Plans for a billion dollar casino resort in Taunton have been thrown into limbo since the federal government revoked a previous grant of land into trust.
