Mass. Maritime Academy Investigating Student Who Dressed in Nazi Uniform

BOURNE – A Massachusetts Maritime Academy student is facing disciplinary action after he showed up to breakfast wearing a Nazi soldier costume on Halloween.

Adm. Francis McDonald, president of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, said the student wore the costume to breakfast Tuesday.

A statement from McDonald said several students notified the commandant’s staff immediately, and school officials told the cadet to remove his costume.

“Please know, that the commandant’s office took swift action to resolve this issue prior to morning formation and they immediately launched an internal investigation,” said McDonald in a statement issued by the school.

The admiral said the Buzzards Bay campus was not the place for that type of activity, and he applauded the students’ reaction and the quick action taken by his staff.

“I applaud the cadets for being outraged and for immediately bringing this to the attention of staff and I am also quite proud of our staff for taking swift and immediate action,” McDonald said.

The school has yet to determine the cadet’s punishment.
