BUZZARDS BAY – A million dollar grant awarded to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy by the Seaport Economic Council in 2016 helped the school improve its waterfront presence and the Academy is unveiling the new project on Thursday during a ribbon cutting.
Officials at the school say the modernized port infrastructure directly supports the mission of the Academy by providing a safe maritime training environment, educational opportunities through research and development as well as secure dockage for state and federal and state emergency response vessels.
The ceremony will take place Thursday morning at 10, Bourne town officials, the area’s state legislative delegation and Lt. Governor Karen Polito are expected to join MMA president Rear Admiral Francis McDonald at the ribbon cutting.
