Massachusetts Democrats Gear Up For Star Turns at Convention

BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts is gearing up for an outsized role when Democrats gather in Philadelphia this week for their national convention.

A boatload of public officials in the heavily Democratic state — including the entire congressional delegation and several statewide elected officials — are slated to attend the gathering as delegates.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Congressman Joe Kennedy and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh are among those expected to address the convention.

But rank-and-file Democrats are also heading to the convention, including supporters of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Boston resident Andrea Burns is among the Sanders loyalists making the trek to Philadelphia.

Burns said she was disappointed, but imagines she will end up voting for Hillary Clinton in November.

Nazda Alam, who came to the United States from Bangladesh in 1982, is also supporting Clinton.
