Massachusetts Gas Price Drop 2 Cents

HYANNIS – Gas prices ticked down another two cents over the past week in the Bay State.

AAA Northeast reports that the average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded in Massachusetts is $2.87.

The state average is two cents below the national average and is 66 cents higher than the same time last year.

“The next factor that may influence gas prices is this Friday’s OPEC meeting in Vienna,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs. “The OPEC nations, plus Russia will discuss increasing oil production which would likely decrease crude oil prices and encourage cheaper gas prices.”

Prices on Cape Cod range from $2.87 to $3.09, according to GasBuddy.com.
