Massachusetts Gas Price Up One Penny, Not Impacted by Hurricane

HYANNIS – Hurricane Florence seems to have had little to no impact on Massachusetts gas prices.

The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded inched up one penny over the past week to $2.84 per gallon in the Bay State.

That price is one cent below the national average and 19 cents higher than the same time last year.

“Gas prices have not seen much movement because unlike the Gulf Coast, which is home to dozens of refineries, the Carolinas house only pipelines and terminals,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast. “This means U.S. crude processing is not impacted and neither are gas prices nationally.”
