Massachusetts Gas Prices Down 3 Cents Before Holiday

HYANNIS – Gas prices in Massachusetts have dipped 3 cents over the past week just in time for holiday travelers.

AAA Northeast reports the average price of self-serve, regular unleaded in the Bay State is selling for $2.84.

The price is one cent below the national average, but is 66 cents higher than it was for Independence Day last year.

“Prices are at their highest point for Independence Day since 2014, but are still eight cents lower in Massachusetts than this past Memorial Day,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs. “That trend is good news for the almost 40 million Americans traveling this week.”

Prices on Cape Cod range from $2.83 to $3.14, according to GasBuddy.com.
