HYANNIS – Gas prices in Massachusetts have dropped another two cents over the past week.
AAA Northeast reports that self-serve, regular unleaded is selling for an average of $2.69 per gallon in the Bay State.
That price is 14 cents higher than the national average and 21 cents higher than a year ago at this time.
“The value of a barrel of oil has tumbled roughly 30 percent in the last 7 weeks, hitting its lowest price point in more than a year,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Legislative Affairs. “That dramatic plunge is pushing down the prices at the pump, providing an early holiday gift to consumers. December may bring some of the cheapest gas prices of 2018.”
Prices on Cape Cod are between $2.55 and $2.94, according to GasBuddy.com.
