HYANNIS – Gas prices in Massachusetts continue to drop.
AAA Northeast reports that the average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded fell four cents over the past week to $2.71.
That price is three cents lower than the national average and 18 cents lower than at the same time last year.
“Refinery utilization in the United States is at its highest level since early January, resulting in supplies at healthy levels to meet robust consumer demand,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast. “Prices are dropping due to cheaper crude oil and at the same time U.S. supply is keeping pace with demand. The national average is poised to fall to at least $2.70 this week – an indication that pump prices may be even cheaper this summer.”
According to GasBuddy.com, prices on Cape Cod are between $2.65 and $2.99.
