HYANNIS – Gas prices continue to fall in the Bay State.
The Massachusetts average for self-serve, regular unleaded dropped 2 cents over the past week to $2.50 per gallon.
That price is 14 cents below the national average and 34 cents lower than it was at this same time last year.
“The national gas price average has been gradually decreasing the past three weeks and we expect this trend to continue, barring any major industry or geopolitical events,” said Mary Maguire, Director, Public and Legislative Affairs.
“But the real savings we’re seeing is when prices are compared to this same time last year. Drivers in some states are paying 40 cents less per gallon than they were last October.”
Prices on Cape Cod are between $2.35 and $2.99, according to GasBuddy.com.
