Massachusetts Gas Prices Fall 5 Cents, Largest Drop Since February

HYANNIS – Gas prices in Massachusetts fell a nickel over the past week – the largest one-week drop since February.

AAA Northeast reports that the average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded in the Bay State is $2.74.

That price is six cents higher than the national average and 21 cents higher than the same time last year.

“Prices could plunge even lower, especially if we see a surge in gasoline production after refiners fully restart units from the fall maintenance season,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast. “Also driving down pump prices is the fact that crude oil is selling under $65 per barrel – a rare sight this year.”

According to GasBuddy.com, prices on Cape Cod are between $2.69 and $2.99.
