HYANNIS – Massachusetts gas prices have remained steady over the past week.
AAA Northeast reports that self-serve, regular unleaded is selling for an average of $2.80 in the Bay State.
That price is five cents lower than the national average and seven cents lower than this same time last year.
“Gas prices are getting cheaper for the majority of drivers, despite the fact that gasoline stocks in the U.S. are running at a deficit compared with last year,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast.
“Crude oil prices have been relatively stable in the past few months, and that stability is moderating pump prices. Nearly half the country’s retailers are offering gas at $2.75 or less.”
According to GasBuddy.com, prices on Cape Cod are between $2.75 and $2.99.
