Massachusetts Gas Prices Tick Up 2 Cents

HYANNIS – After several weeks of gas price decreases in Massachusetts, the average price is back up 2 cents over the past week.

AAA Northeast reports that the Bay State average for a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded is $2.86.

That price is the same as the national average, but 69 cents higher than the same time last year.

“Demand for gasoline this summer has remained strong and pump prices have been relatively stable,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast. “Motorists should be mindful of the fact that hurricane season is underway, and storm-related supply issues could translate into higher prices.”

Prices on Cape Cod are between $2.83 and $3.14, according to GasBuddy.com.
