Massachusetts Gas Prices Up Another 3 Cents

HYANNIS – Gas prices in the state have gone up another 3 cents over the past week.

AAA Northeast reports that the average price for self-serve, regular gasoline in Massachusetts is $2.57 per gallon.

That price is 33 cents higher than the same time last year and is 9 cents below the national average.

According to GasBuddy.com, prices on the Cape are between $2.53 and $2.78.

“In spite of a drop in crude oil prices last week, generally higher crude oil prices, coupled with the seasonal switch to the summer gasoline blends – which are more expensive for refiners to produce – are combining to boost the cost of fuel at the pump,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs.
