Cape and Islands Workforce Development Board Executive Director To Retire

HYANNIS – The longtime head of the MassHire Cape and Islands Workforce Development Board will be retiring in June.

Executive Director David Augustinho has lead the organization for the past 18 and a half years.

The Board of Directors have chosen Kara Galvin as his replacement.

“It was time for me to work on the next phase of my life and so I will be leaving the position on June 30th of this year,” said Augustinho.

As for Galvin, she currently serves as the Director of Youth Services for the agency and Augustinho said she is highly qualified to take on the new role.

“She has a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and she brings a ton of experience to the job,” said Augustinho.

Established in 1982, the board serves as a regional/private sector led agency that is tasked with overseeing all publicly funded vocational education, and training programs.

The group also serves as a major link between the region’s economic development agencies, training providers, educational institutions, and employers.
