WOODS HOLE – The continent of Antarctica is the coldest, driest and most remote on earth and a lecture will be presented tomorrow on basic research being conducted there.
“Antarctica: Glacial History and the Future of Sea Level” will be presented by Senior Scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Mark Kurz as part of the Marine Biological Laboratory Falmouth Forum Series at 7:30 p.m. in the Lillie Auditorium in Woods Hole.
Kurz has visited Antarctica nine times, seven of which to study the glacial history of the Transantarctic Mountains and twice as a Program Officer for the National Science Foundation.
He will provide his view on the glacial history of the continent and research being conducted there including how melting ice could dramatically influence the global sea level.
The free lecture series presented by the MBL Associates is offered as a cultural connection between the research organization and the Cape Cod Community.
