WOODS HOLE – The Steamship Authority is having mechanical issues with another vessel today.

Alerts posted by the boat line indicate the morning runs of the M/V Katama between Woods Hole and Vineyard Haven were cancelled.

The boat’s generators went off-line last night on the 6:15 p.m. run.  The Steamship Authority’s engineering and maintenance staff mobilized and are currently onsite.

A statement from the boat line said that if the staff is able to resolve the issue by replacing parts of the generator that are readily available, the vessel may be back in service later today.

But if the staff determines that the generator needs to be replaced, the vessel might not be back in service until tomorrow. Passengers seeking more information should check the Steamship Authority website throughout the day.

Earlier this spring, the SSA had major problems with the M/V Woods Hole and M/V Martha’s Vineyard, which both being out of service at times.

A replacement boat was brought in from New Bedford to help while the boats were being repaired.
