Meghan Trainor Visits Nauset Regional High School

meghan trainorEASTHAM – Students at Nauset Regional High School got a visit from a former student and special guest yesterday.

Singer/Songwriter Meghan Trainor visited her old high school and met with current students.

The visit was pre-arranged by staff at the school and was meant to be a surprise for students.

“The purpose was to share her story,” said Jodi North Birchall, Advisor and Special Education Teacher at Nauset Regional High School. “Hard work, how you don’t give up your dreams, aim high, you’re going to struggle but keep going at it, and if you see it you can achieve it.”

Trainor graduated from the high school in 2012.

North Birchall came away impressed from Trainor’s visit to the school.

“She sang a couple songs, she couldn’t have been more gracious, she couldn’t have been more humble, she’s funny, her parents were both there, she’s just grown up to be a lovely, lovely young lady,” said North Birchall.

Two assemblies were held for Trainor, where she fielded questions from staff and students and performed her songs “All About That Bass” and “Lips Are Moving” with her ukulele.

At the second assembly a student asked her to play another song, but Trainor had another idea.

“She said “sure, if you get up here with me” so two female students got up there and sang backup vocals with her,” said North Birchall.

Trainor was recently nominated for a Grammy Award in the “Best New Artist” category.
