WEST BARNSTABLE – Men gathered yesterday at Cape Cod Community College to make a White Ribbon Day pledge not to commit violence against women.

For the third straight year the school held its “Sign the Pledge” event where men were asked to sign posters with the commitment to be a solution to ending gender based violence.

“It’s strong members of the community, male members of the community trying to lead and empower other male members of the community to do the right thing,” said Patrick Logan, a campus police officer and co-chair of the White Ribbon campaign.

White Ribbon Day is an annual statewide campaign sponsored by Jane Doe Inc.

Logan said holding the event at the school is a no-brainer.

“It just makes sense that we work to stop all violence, but specifically gender motivated violence,” Logan said.

Domestic violence is in focus on Cape Cod after the stabbing death of a Cotuit woman Tuesday.
