Missing Boater Found Dead in Cape Cod Canal After Search 

SANDWICH — A man was found dead in the Cape Cod Canal Sunday following a search that started when a boat was found unmanned with its engine running in Buzzards Bay.

Coast Guard crews suspended the search at around 12:30 p.m. Sunday when the man was found unresponsive. He was taken to the shore and declared dead.

The 30-foot boat was spotted at around 3:45 p.m. Saturday by a crew member in a commercial vessel. Crews searched for the boater throughout the night between Buzzards Bay and Nye’s Neck.

The man’s identity hasn’t been released. The incident is under investigation.
