Missing Couple Found Safe Off Cohasset Coast

coast guard helicopterCOHASSET – A missing couple was found safe early this morning off the coast of Cohasset, thanks in part to efforts from Cape Cod Coast Guard crews.

A Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod spotted the missing rafters about 8 nautical miles off Rocky Beach around 4 a.m., about 3 hours after they were reported missing. A rescue boat from Station Point Allerton brought the couple aboard a short time later.

No injuries were reported.

The Cohasset Harbormaster and the Cohasset police department assisted the Coast Guard crew in the search of Massachusetts Bay.

“We are happy to bring this couple home alive and well, but urge mariners to remember to have the proper safety gear when on the water,” said Coast Guard Lt. Jennifer Hetzler. “Wearing life jackets and having a radio are just some basic examples of what mariners need to have on the water to be safe.”
