Monomoy Regional Middle School Receives Level 1 Rating

CHATHAM – Monomoy Regional Middle School has been rated as the only Level 1 middle school on Cape Cod, according to data released by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Level 1 is the highest rating for schools based on the state’s accountability system, which measures school and district performance.

Performance indicators include MCAS test results, student growth, progress towards English Proficiency and chronic absenteeism.

Level 1 schools meet targets for reducing proficiency gaps both for all students and for the High Needs Subgroup, along with meeting MCAS participation requirements.

The state provides information on each school’s performance against improvement targets and how it is doing compared to other schools across the state.

Monomy Regional Middle School met 83 percent of its improvement targets and ranked highest among Cape middle schools on its accountability measures with an accountability percentile of 69 percent.

Other Cape middle schools had accountability percentiles that ranging from 19 to 63 percent.

Monomoy Regional Middle School in Chatham serves 454 students in grades 5, 6, and 7 from the towns of Chatham, Harwich and nine other Cape Cod communities.
